India got independence on 15th August 1947 from British
rule. It was a hard and long struggled for freedom fighters and sacrificed
their lives for our beloved motherland. Independence day is of great importance
to us,to give tribute to all those heroes who died for the country. On this Day,
celebrations can be held at many places including schools , colleges and
offices as well. These activities include flag hoisting, patriotic speeches and
other cultural events across the country. Many colleges also organise special
programmes to honour them. On this day our Prime Minister hoists the National
Flag at the Red Fort and addresses the country with a speech. It marked the end
of the 200 years old British reign in India. We now breathe air in a free and
sovereign nation. On this special occasion, the people of India remember the
selfless sacrifices and unparalleled contributions of great men and women to
achieve the independence of India. Leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Subhash Chandra
Bose, Bhagat Singh, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Jawaharlal Nehru, Rani Lakshmi
Bai, Mangal Pandey, Dada Bhai Naoroji .This day generates a feeling of
patriotism among people. It unites the people and makes them feel that we are
one nation with so many different languages, religions and cultural values.
This year, we commemorate 78th independence to commemorate with great
enthusiasm
